By Katrina Gracia Consebido

President-elect Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. tapped outgoing Solicitor General Jose Calida to lead the Commission on Audit, while current president and chief executive of the Philippine National Bank Jose “Wick” Arnulfo Veloso will head the Government Service Insurance System.

Calida, a lawyer by profession, was the former undersecretary of the Department of Justice. He was appointed by former president Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo.

Calida also served as the campaign manager of Rodrigo Duterte’s presidential campaign in 2016 and during Marcos’ vice-presidential campaign then.

Meanwhile, Veloso was in the banking industry for more than three decades.

Prior to his career with the Philippine National Bank, he was the president and first Filipino CEO of HSBC Philippines.

He will assume the post of Rolando Macasaet. – gb
