Caloocan city completes ‘ayuda’ distribution

The city of Caloocan on Sunday (Aug. 24) completed its distribution of financial aid or “ayuda” worth ₱1.34 billion for its residents affected by the two-week enhanced community quarantine (ECQ) in Metro Manila.

The Caloocan local government took 12 days to distribute the “ayuda” to over 400,000 families in the city. It is the first local government unit (LGU) in Metro Manila to complete the cash aid distribution from the national government.

According to Caloocan Mayor Oca Malapitan, the use of text message and other digital technology greatly helped in the fast distribution of the “ayuda.”

“Salamat sa mga kawani ng lokal na pamahalaan, mga barangay, mga estudyante ng University of Caloocan City na nagsilbing volunteer paymasters and encoders, at syempre sa USSC, ang ating partner financial services provider,” he expressed.
