Caloocan police sub-station head relieved, barangay captain faces arrest over pool party

Caloocan City Police Sub-station 9 commander Police Maj. Harold Aaron Melgar has been relieved from his post over the health protocol violations committed at the Gubat sa Ciudad resort over the weekend.

Police Colonel Samuel Mina, Caloocan City police chief, confirmed on Tuesday (May 11) that the relief order for Melgar will be effective today.

Melgar allegedly failed to determine activities within their jurisdiction and failed to prevent the gatherings of hundreds of individuals in the resort despite the implementation of modified enhanced community quarantine (MECQ).

On the evening of May 10, Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) Secretary Eduardo Año said the chairman of Barangay 171 in Caloocan City may be arrested over the incident.

The official reported that 280 mass gathering violators have been rounded up, while 5,473 physical distancing violations were recorded between May 6 to 10. – Report from Bea Bernardo/PTV News/AG-jlo
