University of Cambridge and other top universities in different countries banned the use of artificial intelligence (AI)-powered chatbot ChatGPT.

In an interview with I News, a University of Cambridge Spokesperson said “students must be the authors of their own work.

“Content produced by the AI platforms, such as ChatGPT, does not represent the student’s own original work so would be considered a form of academic misconduct to be dealt with under the university’s disciplinary procedures,” the spokesperson added.

Cambridge is one of the top universities that warned students that using ChatGPT for their coursework will be considered as “academic misconduct.”

Other universities that have banned ChatGPT include Oxford University, Bristol University, and the University of Manchester in the United Kingdom, Sciences Po in France, and RV University in India.

Some school districts in Australia and the United States have also imposed restrictions on the use of the AI-powered chatbots to students.
