Following the spike in COVID-19 cases within the ranks, stricter protocols will be implemented starting today at the Philippine National Police (PNP) National Headquarters in Camp Crame.
According to PNP Officer-in-Charge Police Lieutenant General Guillermo Eleazar, the modified work arrangement of the PNP is also effective today.
All offices in Camp Crame have been properly advised on the assessment needed in implementing work from home for non-uniformed personnel. The PNP heads are also discussing possible work arrangements for uniformed personnel who help implement the unified curfew hours in Metro Manila.
Currently, the number of COVID-19 cases among cops hit 12, 510. Out of the said figures, 1,047 are active cases while 34 have succumbed to the deadly disease.
The PNP leadership is waiting for the recommendation on whether operations will be suspended or the number of clients will just be limited for those who want to avail of police frontline services like the issuance of police clearances and others.
Online live streaming will continue to cover the activities of the PNP particularly presscons for the media but the number of actual attendees will be limited.
A member of the PNP Press Corps tested positive with COVID-19 after being exposed to PNP Chief Police General Debold Sinas. The movements of media people will be limited within Camp Crame due to the recent transmission.
“I would like to also reiterate the instruction to all our personnel not only at NHQ (National Head Quarters) but also to other police camps, stations and offices to strictly observe minimum health safety protocol, particularly on the wearing of face mask and face shield even inside their workplaces at all times”, PNP OIC PLtGen.
