Canada to provide P3.4-M humanitarian aid to Abra quake victims

By Katrina Gracia Consebido

The Government of Canada will provide P3.4 million humanitarian assistance to aid the ongoing relief operations for the victims of the magnitude 7.0 earthquake in Cordillera and Ilocos regions.

A total of P2.2 million will be given to the Cordillera Disaster Response and Development Services (CDRDS) for the provision of food packs to the affected victims in Abra.

The funds will also be used in providing psychiatric first aid assessments for those who may need psychiatric referrals.

The remaining P1.2 million will be contributed to the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC) through Red Cross Canada, which will help the Philippine Red Cross in providing immediate assistance by giving food, health, shelter, protection and water, sanitation, and hygiene support.
