Caraga logs 322 infections in 7 days

The Department of Health in the Caraga Region (DOH-13) reported 322 new coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) infections from August 7 to 13, bringing the total active cases to 446.

In its weekly report Tuesday, DOH-13 noted that of the new cases, 87 were recorded in Agusan del Sur; 67, Surigao del Sur; 22, Agusan del Norte; 16, Surigao del Norte.

A total of 65 new cases were also recorded during the period in Butuan City; 20, in Tandag City; 18, in Surigao City; 13 in Bislig City, nine in Bayugan City; five in Cabadbaran City.

“The total cumulative number of Covid-19 cases in the Caraga Region now stands at 60,024,” DOH-13 said.

Also, last week’s recoveries were logged at 266, bringing the cumulative recoveries in the area to 57,341.

Nine new Covid-19-related deaths were also recorded by the agency last week, causing an upsurge in the number of cumulative deaths to 2,237.

Amid the rising infections in the region, DOH-13 said it will continue its vaccination drives against Covid-19 with the support of the local government units.

As of August 5, a total of 1,688 individuals in the region are fully vaccinated with 247,761 inoculated with booster shots.

A total of 3,551,088 Covid-19 vaccines have been administered in the area as of the same period. (PNA)
