BUTUAN CITY – A suspect in the rape of a minor was arrested in a joint operation by the Police Regional Office (PRO) 13 (Caraga) and PRO-10 (Northern Mindanao) on Sunday (Nov. 7) in Baungon, Bukidnon.

PRO-13 Director Brig. Gen. Romeo Caramat Jr., in a statement Monday (Nov. 8) afternoon, identified the suspect as Loreno B. Bendoy, 45, a resident of Purok 1, Barangay Lacolac, Baungon, Bukidnon.

“Bendoy is a suspect of a rape incident that transpired on January and March 2018 in Culi-Ram, Talacogon, Agusan del Sur that victimized a 12-year old minor,” Caramat said.

The suspect, he added, is the subject of an arrest warrant issued by the Regional Trial Court Branch 7 in Bayugan City, Agusan del Sur.

“Bendoy is facing rape charges in relation to Republic Act 7610 or the Special Protection of Children Against Abuse, Exploitation and Discrimination Act,” Caramat said.

He added that the suspect has been hiding in Bukidnon for more than two years and is classified as the No. 5 most wanted person by Talacogon Municipal Police Office.

The operation launched on Sunday is part of the continuing efforts of PRO-13 to arrest all most wanted persons in the area.

“To those wanted persons hiding outside the borders of Caraga region trying to escape from the charges of the crime they have committed, the long arm of the law will eventually catch you,” Caramat said. (PNA) – bny
