Carlos picks Piñol as her food security adviser

Former agriculture secretary and May 9 elections senatorial candidate Emmanuel “Manny” Piñol confirmed that he has accepted the offer of incoming National Security Adviser Clarita Carlos to join her team.

Piñol will be serving as Carlos’ adviser on food security. He said he has submitted recommendations to Carlos on how to respond to the looming food crisis.

Carlos asked Piñol in a Facebook post on Tuesday morning “to head [the] team of experts/scholars on food security.” This was shared by the latter saying he “will help.”

“I am a Filipino and I love my country. Besides, how could I refuse a friend who needs my help and who also helped me when I was Agriculture Secretary?” he said.

Piñol supported and ran with Senator Panfilo Lacson in the recent polls, but stressed that politics must be set aside to  give way for cooperation. (PTV News)/AG – gb
