Cauayan City mulls creation of incident management team

CAUAYAN CITY, Isabela — The City Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office (CDRRMO) here is proposing the creation of an incident management team to take charge, not only during the time of disasters, but also in holding big events in the city.

CDRRM Officer Ronald Viloria said the incident management team would be tapped to ensure the continuous flow of traffic, security of delegates and secure the place of venues of the events.

Viloria said there were already national events conducted in the city and there was no system used in securing the delegates and manning the traffic but when an incident command system is in place, all concerns could be properly addressed.

He said concerned offices and agencies based in the city can take charge of traffic flow and security of delegates coming from the different parts of the country.

“The proposed incident management team will be composed of the Philippine National Police, Bureau of Fire Protection, Public and Order Safety Division, City Rescue 922 and other offices and agencies of the government will cooperate to ensure the safety of delegates in times of big events,” Viloria said.

He cited the event held in the city last month, the National Public Employment Service Officers Congress, which was successfully held.

Another national event is set next week to be led by the Department of Science and Technology and the security of visitors would again be the responsibility of the city government, Viloria said.
