Cavite to commemorate Aguinaldo’s 150th birth anniversary

TRECE MARTIRES CITY, Cavite – Cavite province’s observance of the 150th Birth Anniversary of Emilio Aguinaldo in 2019 is now a provincial ordinance.

The Sangguniang Panlalawigan has approved, during its 63rd Regular Session, Provincial Ordinance No. 194 (Province of Cavite’s Sesquicentennial Birth Anniversary Commemoration of General Emilio Aguinaldo) mandating all public and private schools, institutions, college and universities; as well as all LGUs within the Province of Cavite to take part in commemorating the First President of the Philippine Republic’s 150th birth anniversary on March 22, 2019.

Authored and sponsored by 7th District Board Member (BM) Reinalyne V. Varias, with BMs Raymundo A. Del Rosario and Ryan R. Enriquez as co-sponsors, the ordinance was unanimously approved by all SP members.

The Ordinance cites Section 17, Article II of the 1987 Philippine Constitution, which gives priority to education, science and technology, arts, culture, and sports to foster patriotism, nationalism, accelerate social progress and promote total human liberation and development.

The new ordinance also referred to Section 16 of Republic Act No. 7160 or the Local Government Code, which mandates every local government to exercise its powers for the promotion of general welfare.

The provincial legislation has urged the commemoration of the life of the pride and honor of Cavite, General Emilio Aguinaldo, and to remember his heroic life, sacrifices for the country’s independence, contributions to the Government and devotion in aiming for the betterment of the Filipino people.

“The Provincial Government of Cavite recognizes the integral contributions of General Emilio Aguinaldo to the evolvement of Philippine Government, most specially his heroic legacy in Philippine Independence, national flag, national anthem, his competence in marking our national history for his immense dedication and nationalism for the country,” the ordinance states. (Gladys Pino/PNA)
