Cavite cops, PDEA arrest 5 drug offenders

DASMARIŇAS CITY, Cavite –  Joint operatives of the city police and the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) arrested five suspected drug pushers and users in a buy-bust operation in Barangay Sta Cruz 1 here Friday afternoon.

Superintendent Ferdinand Reyes Ortega,  Dasmarinas police chief,  identified the suspected drug pusher as Ricardo Cortez Bacerra, 52 , resident of Barangay Sta. Cruz 1; and drug users as Carlos Galban Unay, 48, and Melchor Medalla Cubian, 53, both resident of Barangay San Lorenzo 2; and Glenn Lerona Silverio, 37, and Christopher Juliano Bautista, 34, both resident of Barangay. Ortega said Bacerra was nabbed after selling shabu to police posing as buyer, while the four others were having a pot session inside Bacerra’s house.

Police also seized a .38 caliber revolver; three live caliber .38 ammunition; five short strips of suspected shabu; five unsealed transparent plastic sachets of suspected shabu residue; plastic container; improvised  water pipe; disposable lighters; and the PHP 500 marked bill from the suspects.

Criminal charges are being readied against the suspects for violation of Republic Act (RA) 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act, and R.A 10591 or the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act, before the City Prosecutors Office. (Rogelio Limpin/PNA)
