KAWIT, Cavite — The Manila-Cavite Toll Expressway (CAVITEx) has beefed up patrol vehicles, ambulance service, maintenance vehicles and personnel at an optimum level to ensure safe and convenient travel for motorists and vacationers during the “Undas 2017” holidays.
Cavitex Holdings Inc, the operator of Cavitex, on Thursday said it had increased its manpower complement and deployment of tellers, traffic management and security personnel owing to the expected heavy traffic volume and influx of travelers who would ply the expressway en route to the provinces to spend their “All Saints’ and All Souls’ Day” celebrations.
Under the manpower complement, CAVITEx will deploy additional traffic officers to conduct round-the-clock mobile patrol within the area of jurisdiction and marshals at toll plazas to organize the expected long queue of vehicles.
Additional tellers/collectors including stand-by ambulant tellers will also be deployed in toll booths.
Security personnel will also be beefed up at toll plazas, exits and entry points including other access areas to ensure the safety and security of tollway users.
CAVITEx also laid out other preparations at the onset of “Undas” with the light bar of patrol vehicles to be turned on at night time and during heavy volume of vehicles to increase visibility.
Drums of water will be placed at strategic locations to serve overheated vehicles.
Motorists Service Camps will be activated at the southbound on October 27 to 30 (Friday to Monday) and northbound on October 31 to November 2 (Tuesday to Thursday).
The camps will be manned by patrol officers, security personnel, medical personnel, volunteers, and mechanics as well as hydration and portable toilets (portalets).
CAVITEx is also offering free towing for Class 1 vehicles to the nearest exit only from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. from Oct. 28 to Nov. 2.
The tollway management also said close coordination shall be made with relevant government agencies within Cavitex’s area of jurisdiction such as the Philippine National Police (PNP), Metro Manila Development Authority (MMDA), local government traffic enforcement units, Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP), medical responders, and hospitals, among others.
It is also reminding motorists of the maximum speed at CAVITEX — 100kph for cars and 80 kph for buses and trucks — except for certain sections of the tollway as indicated on the road signs.
Other measures include proper lane usage and anti-speeding operations to prevent accidents and apprehension of overloaded trucks.
Traffic and security incidences of the whole stretch of Cavitex will be monitored with the full operation of the new Cavitex Traffic Control Room equipped with CCTV cameras and monitors.
CAVITEx will also set up portable toll booths for cash payments at Parañaque plaza; and deploy additional Point of Sale (POS) ambulant personnel for motorists who will load their radio frequency identifications (RFIDs).
CAVITEX Customer Service Center will be open on Sunday (Oct. 29) and holidays (Oct. 31 to Nov. 1) from 5:30 a.m. to 8:30 p.m.
They have also established towing and emergency medical services with ambulances at the Parañaque and Kawit toll plazas with the 24-hour hotline number: 165-8888. (Gladys Pino/PNA)
