CBCP urges public to get vaccinated vs. COVID-19

The Catholic Bishops’ Conference of the Philippines (CBCP) continues to urge the public to get vaccinated as protection against the threat of COVID-19.

In today’s (Sep. 30) Laging Handa public briefing, CBCP spokesperson Fr. Jerome Secillano expressed their delight with the government’s stride to vaccinate the children and the general population.

Secillano mentioned that, right from the start, the group pushes for the vaccination of church personnel, especially the priests with comorbidities.

In relation to this, Seillano assured their commitment in following the health protocols, especially that religious ceremonies are now permitted for the vaccinated.

He added that they have not monitored any religious gathering that became a super spreader event.

“Kami po sa simbahan, ayaw po namin na magcontribute sa problema kaya sinisiguro po namin na based on these strategies that we are also having na hindi nga po maiinfect yung mga magsimba dahil alam po natin ang kaseryosohan ng problemang ito at ang isang institusyon katulad ng simbahan ay hindi magcooperate, malamang sa malamang ay mas lalala ang sitwasyon natin.”
