CEB transfers int’l flights to MCIA Terminal 2 effective July 1

MANILA — Local carrier Cebu Pacific (CEB) announced Thursday afternoon that all its international flights to and from the Mactan-Cebu International Airport MCIA will be at the recently-inaugurated MCIA Terminal 2, effective July 1, Sunday.

The resort-themed MCIA terminal 2 building was inaugurated last June 7. It will be open for commercial operations at 2 a.m. on Sunday.

The construction of the new terminal building, which began in June 2015, aims to reduce the airport congestion and increase the MCIA’s annual passenger capacity.

The last CEB flight to use the MCIA terminal 1 will be the 5J 129 flight from Incheon, with an estimated arrival time of 1:40 a.m. on July 1.

The other CEB international flights thereafter are Cebu-Narita, Cebu-Hong Kong, Cebu-Incheon, Cebu-Singapore, Singapore-Cebu, Hong Kong-Cebu and Narita-Cebu.

“All the carrier’s domestic flights to and from the MCIA will be retained at Terminal 1,” CEB spokesperson Charo Lagamon told PNA Thursday.

CEB utilizes the MCIA with 385 flights per week.

Its domestic routes from the MCIA include Manila, Davao, Puerto Princesa, Clark, Iloilo, General Santos, Cagayan De Oro, Bacolod, Ozamiz, Tacloban, Surigao, Butuan, Camiguin, Legaspi, Siargao, Dumaguete, Tandag, Calbayog, Pagadian, Dipolog and Zamboanga.

The MCIA also serves as CEB’s second largest hub next to the Ninoy Aquino International Airport. (PNA)
