Around 7,200 doses of CoronaVac from the first batch of COVID-19 vaccines donated by the Chinese government have arrived in Cebu.
The vaccines aboard a Philippine Airlines plane landed at the Mactan Cebu International Airport on Tuesday morning. The doses were immediately brought to refrigerated vans. The duration of the vaccine transport took only 22 minutes from MCIA to Vicente Sotto Memorial Medical Center (VSMMC), shorter that the 70-minute target of the Department of Health (DOH).
The actual rollout of vaccination is set to begin on March 4 with 3,600 target beneficiaries starting from health workers of VSMMC. The second batch of CoronaVac vaccine is expected to arrive next week.
Cebu is included in the priority list of the government due to its high number and increasing of COVID-19 cases. – Report from John Aroa/PTV Cebu
