The Quezon City Epidemiology and Surveillance Unit (QCESU) advised the city’s residents not to be alarmed after a quarantined resident tested positive for the Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) UK variant in Barangay Commonwealth.
QCESU Head Dr. Rolando Cruz disclosed that they will conduct contact tracing and testing on Thursday in the area where the COVID-19 positive 35-year old male stays. He admitted that the contact tracing will be challenging for the unit because 24 days have passed since the swab test of the patient was taken.
The QCESU is also coordinating with another city in the National Capital Region (NCR) where the agency of the COVID-19 positive patient is located.
The QC government stated that the Department of Health (DOH) reported that the 35-year-old male is from Lilioan, Cebu.
“Ito po ‘yung hinahanap ng DOH na nagmula sa Cebu. Mayroon siyang ubo nag-start kahapon. Kaya ang ginawa natin, agad-agad siyang inilipat sa ating hope facility. Although masikip iyong lugar, apparently, hindi naman siya lumabas during his quarantine period (He is the one from Cebu that the DOH has been looking for. His cough started yesterday, that’s why we immediately transferred him to our hope facility. Although the area is cramped, apparently, he did not go out during his quarantine period).”
