Central Pangasinan power bills down in September

MALASIQUI, Pangasinan — Electricity consumers who use up to 100 kilowatts per hour (kWh) a month can expect a reduction of PHP30 in their bill this month.

The Central Pangasinan Electric Cooperative (CENPELCO) announced a 30-centavo reduction in the power generation charge per kWh in the towns and cities under its jurisdiction.

CENPELCO general manager, Rodrigo Corpuz, in a phone interview on Thursday, said the generation charge declined after the average overall consumption for the August to September billing went down.

Corpuz noted that electricity consumption probably declined due to the power interruptions the towns and cities experienced during typhoons and other weather disturbances.

The generation charge covers 70 percent to 75 percent of the total electric billing of consumers, he said.

Corpuz, however, said he is not sure if that the same reduction would apply for next month’s billing.

Consumers lauded CENPELCO for the reduction in electricity bills this month.

“Maliket kami ta baleg ya bawas la tay PHP.30 sentimo, maung lan iyarum ed isaliw ya belas (We are glad because 30 centavos is already a valuable amount. We can add it to our rice budget),” said Oscar Navalta, construction worker in this town.

Senior citizen Dellia Austria said, “Sana tuloy-tuloy pagbaba ng singil sa kuryente (Hopefully, the decrease in the generation charge would continue).” (Hilda Austria/PNA)
