CEO Summit 2019: The Melting Pot of Best Business Practices and Innovation

With rapid growth of the business sector in the country, executives and entrepreneurs around the country gathered in the recently concluded CEO Summit 2019 held at the Shangri-La at the Fort last May 29 and 30 to learn innovative ideas and formulas for success in order to keep abreast with the advancements in the industry.

Key speakers in various field of business both here and abroad graced the occasion, narrating their success stories and the hardships and challenges that they have to overcome and the revolutionary ideas they developed to overcome said challenges. Also discussed during the said event was leadership and the power to create.

Speakers include Nikki Tang, who is known as one of the biggest “beautypreneurs” in the country today by building both DMark and DermAsia Corporations from scratch. Tang explained during her talk that in order for small and medium enterprises (SMEs) to expand as an enterprise legacy corporation, a business owner must work with the best people, learn fast about the business environment, and make connections with customers and stakeholders since creating meaningful connections by engaging the, will help a business owner “understand them better”.

Meanwhile, good leadership is a necessity in times of adversity, as emphasized by Jaime Getgood, the managing director of Getgood Consulting in Australia. Getgood to lead GM Holden during the closure of the motor industry in Australia, which he handled by focusing on employee engagement.

“If you can inspire them and made them realize that they can make a difference, they have a voice, they can do something, that can change how they work,” Getgood noted pertaining to encouraging employees on improving their interactivity at work.

Meanwhile, John Aguilar from CNN’s The Final Pitch noted that businesses should not be self-centered, rather the business owner should focus on great leadership and teamwork with its business partners to maintain a healthy connection within the business to ensure that it will grow to the next level. Aguilar added that partnering with start-ups and enterprises should be genuine by co-creating with them rather than aiming to acquiring them in the future.

Other topics covered during the said event included talks and panel discussions on relevant topics about the business sector namely mergers and acquisitions, fatigue in the workplace, risk and crisis, value chain, government regulatory and strategy as shared by formidable and experienced business personalities.

The 2019 CEO Summit is a testament on how far the Philippine business sector has come and the measures that were undertaken to achieve success. Not only is it a time and place for the celebration of what different business leaders have achieved, the event also offers an opportunity for these entrepreneurs by using these novel ideas shared by the speakers and use it as the foundation of their victory in their own businesses and to grow both as leaders and persons.
