CEU routs Zark’s, begins winning streak

MANILA, June 22 (PNA) — A stifling defense in the third quarter helped CEU trounce Zark’s, 78-62, in their PBA D-League Foundation Cup game on Thursday night at the Ynares Sports Arena in Pasig.

The Scorpions, who dropped 27 points in the first quarter, limited the Jawbreakers to only eight points in the third that turned the game into a rout.

Rod Ebondo once again led CEU, who won its second straight game, with 23 points, 21 rebounds, and two blocks, while Christian Uri came close to his own double-double of 11 points and nine rebounds.

“Lagi naming sinasabi na kailangan naming mag-focus at mag-improve every game. And today’s win is credit to the boys dahil nag-focus talaga sila sa game,” said Coach Yong Garcia.

Tata Bautista led Zark’s, which slipped to 1-4, with 16 points on four triples in a game where Robby Celiz, the usual suspect in the team’s offensive charge, was limited to only 10 markers.
