The Commission on Higher Education (CHED) issued a show cause order against Philippine Christian University (PCU) for offering unauthorized programs and other offenses.

CHED Chairperson Prospero de Vera III ordered PCU to “cease and desist from offering and implementing any and all programs” which do not have official permit.

The cease and desist order also covers transnational higher education, distance education, and full online classes that do not have CHED permit, recognition or authorization.

De Vera said CHED found that PCU is offering transnational higher education programs without the requisite permit; failed to provide relevant data on its international institutional partners; and do not comply with the prescribed faculty to student ratio for its Doctor of Philosophy in Business Management program.

It also found that PCU posts public announcements about programs without proper CHED authorization, and partners with institutions that are not recognized by their respective governments.

De Vera said PCU is also offering shortened graduate programs through extension classes via distance education and online modalities without authority.
