The Child Safety Motor Vehicles Act or the Child Car Seat Law will be implemented starting Tuesday, February 2.
In accordance with the law, it is now mandatory to place a child restraint system in private vehicles with young passengers under the age of 12 and height at 4’11”and below. This aims to protect children in case of accidents.
Violators will be fined ₱1,000 for the first offense, ₱2,000 for the second offense, and ₱5,000 with suspension of driver’s license for 1 year on the third offense.
However, the Land Transportation Office (LTO) clarified that it will start to pursue violators 3 to 6 months after the law’s effectivity. -PTV News
