A motorcyclist died while the driver of a habal-habal (motor taxi) was injured in a head-on collision in a west coast barangay in Zamboanga City on Christmas Eve, the police reported Saturday (Dec. 25).

Lt. Mary Agnes Miro, Zamboanga City Police Office information officer, identified the fatality as Henry Tolentino, 43, a security guard and resident of Sitio Anuling, Barangay Pamucutan, west of this city.

Wounded was Jayson Bacabac, 22, the driver of the motor taxi, Miro said.

The incident took place along the highway in Purok 1, Barangay Talisayan, west of this city at about 6:15 p.m. Friday (Dec. 24).

Investigation showed the two motorcycles collided head-on while traveling in the opposite direction as Tolentino was on his way to report for duty while Bacabac was going home.

Miro said the responding emergency medical services personnel declared Tolentino, who sustained multiple injuries, dead on the spot.

Bacabac was taken to the hospital after he fractured his right foot and right arm. (PNA) – bny
