CIDG Holy Week crackdown nets 5 arrests

MANILA — Some five persons were arrested by operatives of the Philippine National Police Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (PNP-CIDG) in separate operations in Cagayan, Misamis Occidental, Pangasinan, Antipolo City and Taytay, Rizal on March 27.

In a statement Thursday, the CIDG said operatives of its Regional Force Unit 2 (RFU-2) in Cagayan arrested Albert Jacinto on the strength of an outstanding warrant of arrest for murder at around 7:30 a.m. in Purok 6, Barangay Annafatan, Amulung, Cagayan.

Jennifer Roasol, on the other hand, was apprehended by joint elements of the CIDG RFU 10-Misamis Occidental, Oroquieta City Police Station (CPS) and Tudela Municipal Police Station (MPS) by virtue of an arrest warrant for violation of RA 3019 (Anti-Graft and Corrupt Practices Act) in Barangay Centro Napu, Tudela, Misamis Occidental.

A warrant of arrest for rape was also served by manhunt teams of the CIDG RFU 1-Pangasinan against Samuel Estrada in Barangay Anonas, Urdaneta City, Pangasinan.

Meanwhile, Eduardo Casino was arrested during the implementation of a search warrant by the CIDG RFU 4A in Sitio Ruhat, Barangay Mabugan, Antipolo City. Confiscated from him were one caliber .45 pistol loaded with magazine and ammunition and a caliber .22 rifle. A case for violation of RA 10591 (Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Law) was filed against Casino.

Jervie Salazar, tagged as the 10th most wanted person in Taytay, Rizal, was also arrested by virtue of an arrest warrant for frustrated murder by combined elements of the CIDG RFU 4A-Rizal and Taytay Municipal Police Station in Barangay Dolores, Taytay, Rizal at about 1 p.m.. (PNA)
