Cities, provinces ramp up vaccination with Bayanihan Bakunahan drive

Major cities and provinces nationwide have continued to inoculate more individuals eligible for vaccination during the second day of national vaccination days dubbed as “Bayanihan Bakunahan.”

In Davao City, vaccine recipients lining up at San Roque Central Elementary School were fewer during the second day due to the high number of vaccination sites and individuals who have already received their vaccines.

As of 1:35 p.m. on Tuesday, nearly 400 individuals were vaccinated. The government targets to vaccinate around 3,000 Davaoeños at the San Roque Central Elementary School for the three-day event.

In Aklan, the Department of Health (DOH) deployed additional volunteers and personnel in various municipalities to further ramp up their program and vaccinated 79,591 eligible recipients until Dec. 1.

Several minors, healthcare workers, senior citizens, and persons with comorbidities also participated in the vaccination drive in Batanes and Cavite.

A mobile vaccination program was rolled out in Gingoog City in Misamis Oriental, while Lanao del Sur aims to vaccinate 300,000 individuals. According to the latter’s provincial health office, only 9% of their target population  have completed their doses. – Reports from Clodet Loreto and Claire Gigje/AG-rir
