City of Manila school kids, students, teachers up for laptop, tablet distribution next week

Manila City Mayor Francisco Isko Domagoso is a man on a mission. After managing to turn the viral caseload around and bring it to more acceptable numbers as a result of positive constituency response made possible through a relentless information campaign predicated on free and accessible diagnostics and treatment, the mayor and his team in city hall have now set its eyes in prepping for school opening beginning next week.

Tens of thousands of electronic notebooks, tablets and other portable WiFi devices will be handed out to school teachers while students or school kids will receive SIM cards with 10 GB data capacity beginning next week.

So declares the Manila Pulbic Information Office in its latest social media account uipdates. Its confirmation statement affirms the official pact concurred upon and inked by the Mayor and Cherry Mobile CEO Maynard Ngu yesterday, August 17.

This digital device and online connectivity distribution slated for this week is a culmination of careful preparation set in motion in June with close to a billion peso budget allocation for DEPED’s deferred school opening.

Mayor Isko Domagoso and his team have also assured parents and guardians of school kids and students that safeguards are well in place with pre-installed or pre-configured operating system and application blocks or firewalls on malicious and distasteful Internet websites.
