CITY OF SAN FERNANDO, Pampanga—Classes in some areas in Central Luzon were still suspended on Wednesday as moderate to heavy rains caused by the southwest monsoon enhanced by tropical storm Son-Tinh (formerly Henry) and a low pressure area continue to affect the region.
Classes in all levels both in public and private schools in the provinces of Zambales, Bataan, Pampanga and Bulacan were suspended as these areas are experiencing inclement weather since Tuesday.
Governor Albert Garcia likewise declared the suspension of work in government offices in Bataan, except in agencies involved in disaster risk and reduction management.
Work in some firms at the Freeport Area of Bataan was likewise suspended.
In Tarlac, Governor Susan Yap declared the province-wide suspension of pre-elementary to senior high school classes for both public and private schools.
Localized suspension of classes, on the other hand, was declared in Nueva Ecija.
Classes in all levels, both in public and private schools, were suspended in the towns of Penaranda; Rizal; Guimba; and Talugtug; as well as in Gapan City.
On the other hand, classes in pre-elementary to senior high school, both in public and private schools, were suspended in the towns of Talavera; San Leonardo; Cabiao; Cuyapo; Jaen and Zaragoza.
As of 8 a.m., an orange rainfall warning was issued by the state weather bureau over two provinces in the region, namely Bataan and Zambales, which means that flooding in these areas is threatening.
Yellow rainfall warning, meanwhile, was raised over Pampanga, Tarlac, Bulacan and Nueva Ecija. (Zorayda Tecson/PNA)
