Comelec pushes for one-day voting for 2022 elections

Commission on Election (Comelec) Spokesperson James Jimenez on Sunday (Aug. 29) said that the agency is determined to implement a one-day voting window for the upcoming 2022 elections.

Instead of the normal 6:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., the agency is working to change the schedule and implement a voting period that will start at 6:00 a.m. and end at 6:00 p.m.

Meanwhile, the Comelec plans to put up an isolated polling place for voters who may have COVID-19 symptoms on the day of elections.

Voters found to have COVID symptoms will be isolated and separated from the general population so that they will still be given the chance to vote, Jimenez said. Report from Cleizl Pardilla/PG – bny
