Comelec releases certified lists of senator, party-list bets

MANILA — The Commission on Elections (Comelec) on Thursday released the Certified Lists of Candidates for the national positions, such as senator and party-list groups, in the May 13, 2019 midterm polls.

Comelec spokesperson James Jimenez, in an interview, said the lists are composed of 63 senatorial candidates and 134 party-list organizations.

“(This is) final because these are the names that will be printed (in the ballot),” the poll body official said.

Jimenez reiterated that the names of Senator Aquilino Pimentel III and former Senator Sergio Osmeña III are included on the list of candidates for senator although their respective disqualification cases are still pending.

Two disqualification cases were filed against Pimentel, arguing that he is no longer qualified to run for another term as he already served for two terms, from 2007 to 2019.
