The Commission on Elections (Comelec) urged on Tuesday, July 5, all eligible individuals to register for the Barangay and Sanggunaing Kabataan (SK) elections in December.

The voter registration is until July 23.

In the Laging Handa briefing, Comelec Commissioner John Rex Laudiangco said their offices are open from Monday to Saturday at 8:00 a.m until 5:00 p.m. for those who are interested to cast their votes on December 5 for the Barangay and SK local elections.

Laudiangco said minors aged 15 to 17 are eligible to register for the SK elections, while the 18 years old and older individuals are eligible to register for the barangay election level.

“Para po sa ating mga bagong botante, sa Sangguniang Kabataan, ‘yung atin pong 15 to 17 years old. Pero kahit kayo po ay hindi pa 15, pero kayo po ay mag-15 on or before December 5, pwede na po kayo magparehistro sa ating SK,” Laudiangco said.

“Ganun din po, kahit hindi pa po ay hindi pa 18 sa ngayon pero kayo ay mag-18 on or before December 5, 2022 pwede na po kayong magparehistro,” he added.

Meanwhile, Laudiangco said their offices are also accepting transfer of registration of those eligible registered voters who have a new residential address where they are residing for at least six months.

“Kung kayo po ay lumipat na ng tirahan, kayo po ay nasa bagong barangay, at diyan po sa bagong barangay, kayo ay naninirahan na by December 5 ng anim na buwan o higit pa, pwede niyo na pong ipatransfer yung registration para by December 5, makakaboto na kayo sa inyong barangay,” he said. – gb
