COVID-19 cases now at 11,876; DOH issues reminders amid onset on ‘Ambo’

As of May 14, the total number of recorded COVID-19 cases in the country has reached 11,876 after the Department of Health (DOH) reported 258 new cases. The recovery tally has also increased to 2,337 after 86 patients have recovered while the death toll has climbed to 790 with the reported demise of 18 more patients.

Latest data show there are currently 8,749 active cases.

The DOH also reported there are now 29 laboratories that conduct COVID-19 RT PCR testing.

Meanwhile, the DOH has reminded people in areas affected by typhoon Ambo to prepare for the possible impact of the typhoon while practicing preventive measures against COVID-19.

DOH USec. Maria Rosario Vergeire said health standards must be followed especially in evacuation centers. She also encouraged storing essential goods but reminded to avoid hoarding. – Report from Mark Fetalco
