COVID-19 situation in the Philippines is in the “first major wave”

Malacañang clarified that the Corona Virus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) situation in the Philippines is in the “first major wave.”

Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque stated that he has spoken thrice to Department of Health (DOH) Secretary Francisco Duque III and to other medical experts after the latter’s statement at the Senate saying that the country is already in the second wave.

According to Secretary Roque, just like lawyers, doctors have different viewpoints. For him, Sec. Duque did not make a mistake, he just has a different interpretation on the situation.

He underscored that it is more important to prevent the further transmission of the virus by following the minimum health standards.
