COVID-19 Task Force commends Makati LGU for lowering active cases

MAKATI CITY, (29 October 2020) — National Task Force against COVID-19 (NTF COVID-19) Chief Implementer Carlito G. Galvez Jr. commended the local government of Makati for being able to lower the city’s active cases by 4.2% after it experienced a surge in infections.

“Nakita niyo na ang active cases natin dati napakataas — more or less 2,000. ‘Pag po below 5% puedeng maging manageable na po ang cases natin,” Galvez said during the turn-over of a recently-completed We Heal as One Center quarantine facility on Thursday.

Meanwhile, Makati City Mayor Mar-len Abigail Binay-Campos encouraged the public to look beyond the numbers and consider what the national and city government is doing to scale up the city’s isolation capacity.

“Let us look beyond the numbers. ‘Yun po ang pamantayan,” she said.

The PHP 17.8 million isolation facility has 44 air-conditioned rooms with complete amenities, a nursing station for healthcare professionals, and an X-ray laboratory.
