The government will be issuing vaccination cards for the recipients of COVID-19 vaccines.
According to Dr. Nikka Hao of the Department of Health (DOH), recipients will be given two vaccination cards- a printed one and an electronic copy.
The cards will have QR codes that can be scanned and printed in case a certification is required. These will be utilized to ensure monitoring on vaccine beneficiaries.
“The patient will be provided their vaccination card. As recommended by our NITAG, there will be a physical vaccination card. These vaccination cards will include unique identifiers such as a QR code and this vaccination card will contain demographic information on the specific type of vaccine,” Hao explained.
Undersecretary Maria Rosario Vergeire clarified the use of such passport globally is now under evaluation. Experts are still studying if this will be a requirement for outbound travel.
Meanwhile, Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) have been assured that they are included in the vaccination priority list.
“Inilalagay lang po natin na kung sino yung pinaka-vulnerable (We are just including the most vulnerable) and because OFWs are the ones going in and out of the country when they have work, that would be part of our priorities,” Vergeire said.
Local government units (LGUs) were asked to prepare a list of alternative recipients in case a priority beneficiary of the vaccine backs out. – Report from Mark Fetalco
