The Cordillera Regional Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (CRDRRMC) has set the implementation of an augmentation plan for Typhoon Odette – affected regions.

CRDRRMC Chairperson Albert Mogol said the Cordillera, being one of the regions not affected by the recent typhoon, is ready to organize support activities in the affected regions in Visayas and Mindanao and Region 4-B.

The CRDRRMC Response Cluster, chaired by Department of Social Welfare and Development Regional Director Arnel Garcia, convened a special meeting for the augmentation operation plan dubbed Oplan Binnadang (a Cordillera term for the spirit of bayanihan) to look into possible augmentation assistance and services that member agencies and provincial/city local DRRM councils may provide.

DSWD-CAR reported that the resources available for augmentation are 11,000 family food packs, 8,000 pieces of malong, 50 rolls of laminated sacks, and 200 pieces of collapsible water container.

Raw materials for 10,000 more FFPs are also on procurement process.

DSWD – CAR is soliciting human resource assistance for repacking once the materials are delivered.

Initially, the DSWD – CAR has committed to send 7,000 FFPs that will be hauled from its satellite warehouse in Abra and brought to Region 8.

An INMARSAT emergency telecommunication equipment complete with the needed accessories and a three– man team for technical support and assistance for warehouse management, psychosocial first aid, and for disaster relief operation and management of information center are also available.

For those who want to donate to the typhoon victims, a donation desk for Oplan Binnadang is set up at the DSWD – CAR Regional Office along North Drive.

Donations can be brought on Dec. 22-24 and Dec. 27, 28, 29 and 31, 2021. “As much as possible, please do not give perishable goods and used clothing,” the agency said.

A technical working group led by the Office of Civil Defense has been formed for the transportation and distribution plan for Oplan Binnadang. (JDP/CCD-PIA CAR) – jlo
