The Tropical Depression (TD) Crising is expected to intensify into a tropical storm Thursday, with the possibility of reaching severe tropical storm strength by Friday afternoon or evening, July 18, the state weather bureau reported.

In its tropical cyclone bulletin issued at 11:00 a.m., the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said the eye of TD Crising was monitored 470 km east-northeast of Virac, Catanduanes.

The tropical depression is moving north-northwestward at 25 kph, with winds of 55 kph and gusts of up to 70 kph.

“Base sa ating latest satellite animation, nasa around 300 km ‘yong radius o ‘yong layo from the center nung kabuuan ng bagyo,” PAGASA weather specialist Benison Estareja said in a public briefing, adding that Crising is affecting the eastern section of Luzon and Visayas.
