CSB tallies first win through Perpetual’s nullified victory due to wrong uniform

Even the gutsy 69-65 crucial win by Perpetual over St. Benilde couldn’t stop the implementation of ruling written in the NCAA rule book as Blazers grabbed their first win due to Altas’ wrong set of jerseys

It was an unforeseen error for Perpetual Help as their players unintentionally wore maroon jersey uniforms, instead of designated light jerseys on their debut match against CSB in San Juan City on Tuesday.

But still, as a matter of formality, the two teams clashed and played toe-to-toe down the stretch.

Down by one point inside the last two and a half minutes of the game, 65-64, the Altas blanked the Blazers in the remaining time and gave their reinforcement Prince Eze a chance to deliver some more quality plays with his 5-point coup de grâce, 69-65.

However, there’s no exception in every rule, especially for those kinds of intolerable mistakes as the ruling on Article 4.3.2.1 Section 20 of the NCAA Rulebook showed its fangs.

It states that an athlete, who does not bring the right jersey in a certain game, is ineligible to play for the said game.

Meanwhile, the reversal of the result gave CSB coach and former PBA guard TY Tang a winning NCAA debut.

However, it was still a great showing for both teams. These BOX SCORES are the legitimate proof:

PERPETUAL 69 – Dagangon 14, Ylagan 12, Yuhico 12, Eze 11, Sadiwa 10, Pido 6, Coronel 4, Lucente 0, Tamayo 0, Clemente 0, Mangalino 0

CSB 65 – Belgica 16, Johnson 10, Castor 9, Domingo 9, Young 6, Dixon 5, Sta. Maria 4, Naboa 3, Leutcheu 2, San Juan 1, Bunyi 0

QUARTER SCORES: 23-13, 39-32, 53-55, 69-65
