CSC sets ‘Government Express at the Mall’ Sept. 3-6

ILOILO CITY – – Government agencies offering frontline services will once again gather in one venue for this year’s “Government Express at the Mall” on September 3-6, which is organized by the Civil Service Commission (CSC) in Western Visayas.

The event is one of the highlights of the 118th Philippine Civil Service Anniversary here and is aimed at giving the public the opportunity to transact business with government agencies.

In a media interview on Monday, CSC 6 Regional Director Lawyer Rodolfo Encajonado said they are still finalizing the list of agencies that will participate in the event, which will be held at SM City.

He said most of the participating agencies are those that are usually subjects of complaints because of long lines at their offices.

He said among these agencies are the Social Security System (SSS) and the Professional Regulation Commission (PRC), which has long queue of people during filing of application for board exams and releasing of professional licenses.

Encajonado, however, pointed out that most of the regional office of the government agencies are now improving in terms of the delivery of their services, especially with the passage of the Ease of Doing Business Law.

“There is an improvement,” he said.

Aside from the one-stop shop event, there will also be a government job fair on September 7-8, dubbed “Trabaho, Negosyo at Pangkabuhayan.” It will be conducted in coordination with the Department of Labor and Employment 6.

He said job vacancies in government agencies will be available in the fair, adding that they are still inviting agencies and finalizing the plan because participating offices also follow the guideline, especially on the publication of vacant positions.

Encajonado announced that the awarding of the 2018 Search for Outstanding Government Workers is scheduled on September 6.

A fun run will also be held on September 2, to be participated in by personnel from various government agencies and private institutions. (Cindy Ferrer/PNA)
