DA assures pork supply is enough amidst ASF threat

The Department of Agriculture (DA) has guaranteed that there will be enough pork supply for the coming holiday season amidst the African Swine Fever (ASF) threat in the Philippines.

“Marami pa tayong imbentaryo if we compare ‘yung imbentaryo natin last year. The same period, mayroon tayong 55% more pork inventory (We still have many inventories if we compare our inventory last year. In the same period, we have 55% more pork inventory).” DA Secretary William Dar has disclosed.

25 provinces have been affected by the ASF and almost 350,000 pigs have been depopulated. Sec. Dar has suggested that pork can be replaced by chicken products as the country has “260% more inventory in chicken compared to last year.” Report from Allan Francisco
