The Department of Agriculture (DA) has implemented a stricter national zoning plan due to the African swine fever (ASF) outbreak in the Philippines.
The entries and exits of pigs in the red zone or areas considered as ASF-infected are prohibited. However, the Enhanced Community Quarantine has stopped the outbreak from spreading.
The DA trusts that the pork meat supply will last until the end of June. Based on the 2020 year end outlook of the agency, there could be a possible shortage of pork meat supply for 43 days if the DA will not impose any stringent measures against ASF.
