DA: Pork prices may still rise by ₱20 per kg

The price of pork sold in the National Capital Region (NCR) may still increase by up to ₱20 per kilogram.

According to the Department of Agriculture (DA), the price hike has been expected amid the increase in expenses of hog raisers in the transport of meat products from Mindanao.

Also factored in is the regular testing for African Swine Fever (ASF) of hogs coming from Mindanao suppliers.

Based on the price monitoring last January 29, pork kasim is sold at around ₱380 per kilogram, while liempo is priced at ₱400.

The DA last week proposed to President Rodrigo Duterte the implementation of price ceiling in the prices of pork and chicken. An executive order imposing a price cap of select products has already been signed – PTV News
