DUMAGUETE CITY — The Dumaguete City Tourism Office has lined up a number of activities for locals and visitors alike for the Christmas season, city tourism office head Jacqueline Veloso Antonio announced on Friday.

A Christmas concert, dubbed “Kumukutitap sa Dumaguete”, will allow every Dumagueteño and visitors, young and old, to watch and hear the songs and renditions of National Artist for Music Ryan Cayabyab at the newly-paved city hall quadrangle grounds at 7 p.m. on Dec. 9.

Aside from Cayabyab, other local talents, including the Kabilin Grand chorale of the Negros Oriental State University, West City Elementary School Children’s Choir, Dumaguete City High School Rondalla, and Silliman University Campus Choristers Jayrome Sevellejo and Geva Villamil are expected to give glitter to the event.

Also slated on the same day is the lighting of multi-colored lanterns, with the shapes of local fauna, such as the whale shark, green sea turtle, gecko, fruit bat, “tarictic” bird, bleeding heart pigeon, Visayan warty pig, Philippine spotted deer, and Nudibranch 10 frog.

The lighting of the city’s giant Christmas tree at the Quezon Park is expected to be done next week, as the area is still being paved.
