DAVAO CITY — Seven young cyclists will represent Davao City in this year’s Philippine National Youth Games-Batang Pinoy (PNYG-BP).

The young cyclists in the list are Dion Tristan Pinton, Herbert Basti Pinton, Christian Acedo, Al David Acedo, Joshua Gaon, Francis Guilaran and Yolly Tapao.

Rey Pinton is the head coach while the assistant coach is Mario Buro Sr.

“Cycling will no longer be included in the Mindanao qualifying and instead be held already in the National Finals slated on September 15-21in Baguio City,” said Salvador Paholio Jr., chairman of the Citywide Cycling Association of Davao (CICAD).

The other events will still be played in the Mindanao leg set on March 6 to 12 in Oroquieta City, Misamis Occidental.

The sporting activities include archery, arnis, athletics, badminton, baseball, basketball, boxing, chess, dance sport, karatedo, tennis, pencak silat, sepak takraw, softball, swimming, table tennis, taekwondo, volleyball and beach volleyball.

The PNYG-BP is an annual event for out-of-school youth, in-school youth, in-school students and Filipino-foreign youth aged 15 years and below.

The Mindanao leg was originally set on June 10-15 last year but was moved because of the Maute-ISIS threat in the region, which prompted President Rodrigo Duterte to place Mindanao under martial law. (Lito Delos Reyes/PNA)
