DAVAO CITY — The Davao City Police Office (DCPO) has a new fleet of vehicles to further boost its anti-crime capability.

Twelve Hyundai Elantra patrol cars and two Starex patrol vans were turned over to DCPO during Monday’s flag-raising ceremony at the City Hall by the South Korean government.

Senior Insp. Maria Theresita Gaspan, DCPO spokesperson, said the donation is part of the South Korean government’s official development assistance to the country.

Gaspan said the donation was made possible through Hyundai, in partnership with the Korean National Police Agency (KNPA) and the Korean International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) under the six-year joint project of the Republic of South Korea and the Philippines to modernize the Philippine National Police’s crime-busting capabilities.

The ceremonial turnover of keys was initiated by Edgar N. Ang, honorary consul of the South Korean government in Davao City.

Chief Supt. Marcelo Morales, Police Regional Office-11 chief, received the vehicles together with the city police office director, Senior Supt. Alexander C Tagum, City Administrator Atty. Zulieka Lopez, Councilors Maria Belen Acosta and Mary Joselle Villafuerte.

Gaspan said the 12 Elantra patrol cars will be distributed equally to all DCPO police stations.
