Davao City reversion to GCQ pushed

National Task Force Against COVID-19 Chief Implementer Carlito Galvez Jr. has recommended placing the City of Davao under general community quarantine again due to the increase in the number of COVID-19 cases.

Data from Department of Health (DOH) in Region 11 show that the 1,625 cases last November 4 increased to 38 percent or an additional 628 cases within 13 days.

As of November 16, cases in the entire region reached 2,253 and 1,744 are from Davao City alone.

Galvez also recommended implementing granular lockdown and strict quarantine protocols in 20 high-risk barangays to balance the economy and prevent Coronavirus transmission.

Galvez emphasized that contract tracing and protocols among establishments must be boosted. Zero home quarantine policy must also be observed by confirmed cases.

The national CODE team has met with City Mayor Sara Duterte to discuss the proposal. – Report from Rodirey Salas/PTV Davao
