Davao cops intensify ‘Oplan Kalinaw’ for Kadayawan

DAVAO CITY — The Davao City Police Office (DCPO) said it has intensified Oplan Kalinaw in line with the Kadayawan Festival, resulting in the arrest of 20 wanted persons in the city.

City police chief, Senior Supt. Alexander Tagum, said Thursday the simultaneous operations resulted in the profiling of 1,114 residents, 988 of whom had valid identification cards, while 126 were not able to present proper identification.

Tagum said the 20 arrested wanted persons were nabbed by virtue of warrants of arrest for various criminal offenses.

He identified the suspects, who are facing frustrated murder charges as Kenneth Cacayurin Tagsa, Roberto Maisog Gonzales, Christian Monreal Gonzales, Ariel Palmera Gonzales, Eric Indagacan Gallardo, Jay-Ar Oribawan, and Jaymar Masandang Gambito.

Also arrested were Ireneo Toledo Limboy Jr., Jesus Danilo dela Peña, Jona Liza Firmeza Castañas, Marcelina Chavez Leduna, Marlene Linao Palanca, Pedreng Mindo Rico, Norman Tidalgo Naluan, Angelo Galabo, Kevin Salota, Arnel Gomez, Magell Christine Bato Quimpo, Tom Molina, and Dennis Barce. They are facing various criminal charges, such as illegal possession of firearms, illegal drugs, oral defamation, estafa, and theft.

Tagum said a total of 775 residents availed of the free medical check-up, and supplemental food feeding, while 772 persons received free medicines.

Oplan Kalinaw, or the Joint Area Security Community Service and Protection Operation Plan, was designed to initiate identity or background check and profiling of transient residents in urban poor communities, and to conduct manhunt operations and the arrest of wanted persons, as well as community outreach activities and crime prevention education.

Tagum said Oplan Kalinaw is backed by Task Force Davao, Philippine Coast Guard, Criminal Investigation and Detection Group, the City Health Office, and other police and military units based in the city. (Rhoda Grace Saron/PNA)
