The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) has completed the preventive maintenance works performed on the critical sections of the Surigao del Sur boundary to Davao Oriental Coastal Road.
The activity aims to improve connectivity and road safety among Caraga and Davao regions, respectively.
According to DPWH Regional Office 11 Director Juby B. Cordon, the maintenance activities conducted on the four (4)-lane 2.21-kilometer section of the thoroughfare was vital in prolonging the road infrastructure’s service life and improving the travel experience for locals and tourists in the area.
“The asphalt overlaying works of Davao Oriental Coastal Road is one of the substantial road activities to prolong their service cycle, thereby preventing the need for rehabilitation and reconstruction,” added Director Cordon.
Implemented by DPWH Davao Oriental 1st District Engineering Office, the project also includes the construction of portland cement concrete pavement, installed with line canals, pavement markings, and warning signs as its road safety features.
The asphalt overlay project along Davao Oriental Coastal Road was completed amounting to P96.49 million funded under the General Appropriations Act of 2024.
