DavNor anti-drug ops net 69 suspects

DAVAO CITY — Some 69 persons, including three drug den owners, were arrested in a series of buy-bust operations conducted by the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) 11 (Davao), Tagum police and the Regional Mobile Force Battalion in Barangay Madaum, Tagum City in Davao del Norte province on Saturday.

In an interview Sunday, PDEA-11 Director Antonio Rivera said the operatives arrested 16 persons in drug den 1 along Durian Ave., nine in drug den 2 in Iga-uy Subdivision, and 44 in drug den 3, all in San Isidro of Barangay Madaum. They also seized about 24 grams of suspected “shabu” (crystal meth).

Rivera said of the 69, 32 are being held at the PDEA-11 detention facility while the rest are in the custody of the Tagum City police, pending the filing of the charges for violating Sections 5, 6, 11 and 12 of Republic Act No. 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.

“We divided the suspects. The 32 in our custody while the rest in Tagum, since we can’t detain them all here,” Rivera said. (Rhoda Grace Saron/PNA)
