DBP, GenTri tie up to ease business processes

GENERAL TRIAS CITY, Cavite — Residents and business owners here can now pay their real property tax dues through debit, credit and prepaid cards “anytime, anywhere” online.

This, after the city government of General Trias partnered with the Development Bank of the Philippines (DBP) to avail of the latter’s Cash Management Solutions (CMS) to promote efficiency in managing operating funds, increase productivity and realize cost savings for the city government.

An initiative of Mayor Antonio A. Ferrer, the partnership obligates DBP to provide a Point-Of-Sale (POS) Facility and Internet Payment Getaway (IPG) that will augment the payment options offered by the LGU to resident and business owners in paying their Real Property Taxes (RPTs), said city Human Resources Management Office head Dr. Dennise R. Columna on Tuesday.

“They can now pay their RPTs using debit, credit and prepaid cards while the IPG will facilitate the online acceptance of payments of the taxpayers’ real property and business dues, enabling the taxpayers to pay their dues anytime, anywhere,” Columna explained.

This efficient and more convenient means for tax collection is expected to increase the city’s tax collection.

The partnership also offers efficiency of payment collection, cost-savings from reduced operational expenses, mitigation of cash handling related risk, reduction in coin sourcing requirements and automated report generation.

The city government welcomed the bilateral agreement, which augurs well for the LGU’s implementation of Republic Act 11032 or the “Ease of Doing Business and Efficient Government Service Delivery Act,” aimed at simplifying the business permit processing, as well as other government services.

Aside from these, the partnership also involves the improvement of the city human resource requirement, with its new payroll system that automates the key areas of the human resource and payroll processing, management of confidential employee information and automatically computes earnings and deductions with report generating capability.

DBP will also install two additional automated teller machines (ATMs) to support the withdrawals by LGU employees, as well as the general public.

Lastly, the city government also availed of the e-Gov payment, deposit pick-up and salary loan facilities of DBP.
