CITY OF SAN FERNANDO, Pampanga — The Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) here has recognized its partners in forest protection for their valuable contribution in the efforts to curb illegal logging activities in Central Luzon.

Forester Fred Sadueste, chief of the DENR-3 Enforcement Division, said Tuesday that the support from local government units (LGUs), Philippine Army (PA) and Philippine National Police (PNP) played a vital role in upholding environmental conservation and forest protection in the region.

“Protecting the vast forestlands of Central Luzon is a responsibility the DENR cannot do alone. Alliance and support from other agencies is significant to fully guard our forest areas against all forms of illegal activities,” Sadueste told the local media here.

Among the awardees were the Municipal Environment and Natural Resources Office of Baler, Aurora; Community Environment and Natural Resources Office (CENRO)-Baliwag; DENR Tayabo Monitoring Center; 7th Infantry Division, PA; First Scout Ranger Regiment, Special Operations Command; 70th Infantry Battalion-Cadre; 48th Infantry Battalion; Task Force Sagip Likas Yaman; PNP-Maria Aurora, Aurora; and PNP Maritime Group-303rd Maritime Police Station.

Sadueste encouraged all partner-agencies to continuously support forest protection measures to maintain the ecological health of Central Luzon.
